Bolivar, Mo. – The SBU men's basketball team looked for another season sweep this evening as they hosted the Quincy Hawks. The Bearcats completed the sweep in spectacular fashion defeating the Hawks 81-61. This moves them to 19-8 (11-8 GLVC) on the season.
"I thought for us to get out to a fast start and quick start and keep an edge on it, was what we needed to do today, and I thought we played really well." Head Coach Clark Sheehy said. "To score 81 points against a good defensive team is a good sign. I thought we did a good job of having key possessions and managing the game in a good way."

Mitch Ganote had another stellar game in the Bearcat uniform recording his 11
th double-double of season with 18 points and 11 assists. He was a perfect 3-3 from beyond the arc. His partner in crime
Quinn Nelson scored the next highest with 14 points but also led the entire team in rebounding with seven. Sophomore
Drew McMillin came off the bench adding 14 points to the Bearcat total off four made threes. Three of those came in the first half all coming back-to-back-to-back extending the Bearcats lead to 18 points early.
The Bearcats return to action this Saturday as they host the Illinois-Springfield Prairie Stars. Not only is this Senior day but it has a lot of postseason implications.
Currently these two teams sit in 4
th and 5
th place in the GLVC standings, with SBU in 5
th. But it goes beyond the conference tournament to the regional tournament. On Wednesday, the updated regional rankings came out with Southwest Baptist in 7
th and Illinois-Springfield in 9
th. With only the top-8 teams making it to the regional tournament, this game could be the deciding factor on who makes it over the other. Tipoff in the Meyer Center is schedule for 3:00 PM.
