Bolivar, Mo. – The SBU softball team hosted the Lincoln University Blue Tigers in their home opener this evening. The Bearcats split the doubleheader winning the first game 6-1 and dropping the second 5-6. That moves the Bearcats to 2-8 on the season.

Game 1: W, 6-1
Swisher picked up his first home win as a Bearcat with a controlling 6-1 victory over the Blue Tigers. Senior
Emma Wood started out on the mound pitching five innings allowing only one run with three hits. She picked up the win in her first appearance of the season. Third baseman
Izabella Anderson was the MVP of game one going 2-3 and recording three RBI's. Sophomore Kenndy Griffin knocked in two runs off of one hit.

Shalie Wooden also recorded a hit in game one.
Game 2: L, 5-6
It was a back-and-forth game two with four different lead changes, but the home team was unable to secure to final lead.
Shalie Wooden started on the mound for the Bearcats pitching 3.1 innings and recording two strikeouts. Wooden also contributed on the offensive end recording two RBI's.
Chloee Sams opened the scoring for the Bearcats with a deep double knocking in two runs.
The Bearcats return to play this Saturday as they travel south to compete in the Branson Bash. They will battle Minot State in game one of the day at 10:00 AM then Drury in a non-conference match at 1:30 PM.
