Bolivar, Mo. - The SBU baseball team opened the home season this afternoon/evening in a doubleheader against regional opponent Wisconsin-Parkside. The Bearcats took down the Rangers in two thrillers giving them their first two wins of the season, moving them to 2-7.

Game 1: W, 12-9
Freshman
Sam Peterson opened the series on the mound where he pitched a full five innings only allowing one earned run. His strong performance earned him his first win of the season.
Zeke Skinner and
Mel Mulholland each led the team with three RBIs on the day. Skinner's three came off three run home run in the top of the 8
th which game the Bearcats a 10-4 lead. Mulholland had three hits off five at bats on the game with a double and two singles.
Game 2: W, 11-9 (7)
The game started out as a slugfest with the two teams combining 11 runs in the first two innings.
Cole Van Every started on the mound and pitched through six full innings with six total strikeouts and four earned runs. Junior Treymane Mungin's first home run of the season came at the perfect time in the bottom of the 7
th. The Bearcats were trailing 8-9 with two outs, runners on 2
nd and third. With the count at 2-2, one strike away from the loss, Mungin launched the ball to deep left center field over the fence for a walk off home run. The entire Bearcat team crowded Mungin as he crossed the plate for their second straight victory.
Southwest Baptist will return for one final game against the Rangers Sunday afternoon. First pitch is scheduled at Dodson field at 1:00 PM.
