Bentonville, Ark. - The SBU softball team opened their 2023 season this afternoon as they took on old MIAA foes, Missouri Western and Northeastern State. The Bearcats fell in both games starting 0-2 on the season.
In game 1, sophomore
Jenna Daggett started on the mound and recorded the loss as the Bearcats fell 0-11. Daggett pitched 4.1 innings recording five strikeouts. Sophomore
Margo Frossard returned where she left off as a freshman recording one of the Bearcats two hits in the game. Junior
Rylee Lunn recorded the other.
In game 2, freshman
Shalie Wooden showed off her skill as she pitched a full seven innings in the Bearcats 0-4 loss against Northeastern State. She struck out two batters and only allowed three hits in the game. Frossard recorded two more hits for three total on the day. Junior
Madison Coone recorded her first two hits of the season on just three at bats.
Southwest Baptist will return to action tomorrow for another double header against University of Arkansas-Monticello and Southern Arkansas University. The first game is scheduled for 11:00 AM with the second at 1:30 PM.
