Pittsburg, Kan. – The SBU women's track and field team opened their 2023 season today at the Crimson and Gold Invitational. Over 20 Bearcats competed in the season's opener.
Junior
Collinique Farrington highlighted the day for the Bearcats with two 1
st-place finishes. She won the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.08. That was not only a meet record but also an SBU record and a National provisional mark; was in the top-10-mark last year. Farrington also won the 400-meter dash with a time of 54.42. That was also a meet record, previously held by Farrington, and is a National qualifying mark.
Lainy Williams also had a strong finish in the women's mile with a time of 5:00.58 good for 5
th place.
Alexis Barber took 9
th place in the 3,000-meter run with a time of 10:09.59, teammate
Kiersten Potter finished right behind Barber in 11
th place.
The Bearcats will compete again in a month as they head to Fayetteville for the Arkansas Invite. They will compete in this meet on Friday January 12
th at the Randal Tyson Indoor Track.
