Indianapolis, Ind. – SBU football junior
Logan Turner won SBU's first ever GLVC Special Teams Player of the Year award as announced by the conference office yesterday afternoon. He also received All-GLVC 1
st team along with three other Bearcats. As well, there were three players who earned All-GLVC 2
nd team and four honorable mentions.
Turner is coming off a career season posting numerous school and personal records. He broke the SBU career field goals made (37) and PAT (117) record this season, as well setting a new single season record for field goals made (20). Turner led the Nation in field goals made per game (1.82) and tied for ninth in field goal percentage (.800). While sitting atop the conference in all categories he also snagged four GLVC Special Teams Player of the Week awards.
Three other Bearcats earned All-GLVC 1
st team after the 2023 season. Sophomore Will Bressi won his first All-GLVC award after holding down the offensive line for the Bearcats. Senior
Abel Carter improved upon his All-2
nd team last season after rushing for over 1,000 yards and moving into 5
th in the SBU all-time rushing list. Senior
Brenden Smith was a power on both sides of the ball as he earned two All-GLVC 1
st team awards this season. One as a defensive back where he led the Bearcats in interceptions with three on the season, returning one for a touchdown. As well, he earned a 1
st team award as a return specialist averaging nearly 20 yards per punt return and scoring one touchdown.
A few Bearcats were named to All-GLVC 2
nd team including senior
Kylan Herrera, sophomore Josh Koranda, and senior
Jeremiah Scroggins. As well, senior
Avary Davis, junior
Jordan Kent, sophomores
Cody Brackeen &
Tyler Hart all earned honorable mentions.
