Bolivar, Mo. - The SBU Men's Soccer team was back at home for their Senior Day as they faced the William Jewel Cardinals. The Bearcats would come out with a 2-2 tie making them 2-8-3 (1-7-2 GLVC) on the season.
The Bearcats would honor 6 members of the program on Senior Day. This includes Tumekie Blackwood, Dominik Federer, Danny Parrish, Joshua Gerdiman, Austin Roberts, and Callum Bisset. Bisset and Federer are each in their second year as a member of the Bearcat program. Blackwood is in his third season with the program and Parrish and Gerdiman are both in their fourth year as members of the Bearcats. Roberts has been a part of the program since 2019 making him the longest tenured senior with the Bearcat Program.
The Bearcats would start the game strong as they would build up a solid attack in the 10th minute of the game. Senior Tumekie Blackwood beat several Cardinal players before making a wall pass with fellow senior Dominik Federer before getting it back and setting up sophomore Titouan Fraslin for a shot that would end in the back of the net. The Bearcats would hold the 1-0 lead going into the half. In the second half, the Bearcats would waste no time as senior Joshua Gerdiman would find the back of the net from a great through-ball from Fraslin in the 47th minute to put the Bearcats up 2-0. Unfortunately for the Bearcats, the Cardinals would not go down without a fight as they would score 2 goals of their own before the final whistle, ending the game in a 2-2 draw.
Southwest Baptist will be back in action on Sunday, October 22 as they host the Rockhurst University Hawks. Kickoff is set for 2:30 PM at the SBU Soccer Field in Bolivar, Mo.
