Bolivar, Mo. – The SBU women's basketball returns to conference play Saturday afternoon as they take on Lewis University. The game will take place in the Meyer Wellness Center with a scheduled tipoff of 1:00 PM.
This is the fourth ever matchup between these two programs, with the Flyers winning all three prior. Their closest matchup came last season at Lewis, where the Bearcats fell 64-66. This season they Flyers come in with a 4-1 conference record, currently tied for 2
nd in the conference standings. They are a team that doesn't hit a lot of 3-pointers only averaging 6.9 made a game, but they take great care of the ball. They lead the entire conference in assist to turnover ratio with 1.25.
The Bearcats enter this game on their longest win streak of the season with four. This streak included defeating the Truman State Bulldogs who were previously the top team in conference. In this win streak, they have been superb on defense allowing an average 48.5 points per game. On the season, they are 2
nd in the conference allowing only 60.2 PPG and 2
nd in FG% defensively, holding opponents to only 38%. Offensively the Bearcats have begun to find their rhythm averaging 44% from the field and 43% from three in their previous three games.
