Bolivar, Mo. – The SBU women's basketball team hosted the #2 team in the Nation Drury Panthers this evening. The Bearcats brought a great effort in front of a big home crowd but fell in the end 54-80. That loss moves them to 10-10 (4-8 GLVC) on the season.
The Bearcats had one of their strongest halves of the season as they shot out to an early lead and led the Panthers 31-27 at half. Drury showed why they are one of the best teams in the Nation in the second half, outscoring SBU by 22 in the third quarter.
Sophomore
Kelsey Blakemore had another spectacular game as she went a perfect 6-6 from the field to tie her career high with 21 points. She also pulled down five rebounds, took away two steals, and dished out 1 assist. Junior Tori Hamilton improved her impeccable shooting percentage going 6-7 in tonight's game for 85% and made 6-8 from the charity stripe. She just narrowly missed out on another triple-double with 18 points and 9 rebounds.
The Bearcats will have an entire week off for the first time since winter break before they have their second and third repeat game of the season. They will travel to Missouri St. Louis next Thursday to take on the Tritons. SBU fell in their first meeting this season 46-51. Tipoff for this game is scheduled for 5:30 PM.
