Bearcats Slam Past the Panthers in Victory Over Rivals

Bolivar, Mo. – The SBU men's basketball team hosted their longtime rival the Drury Panthers for the 64th all-time meeting between these two programs The Bearcats controlled the entire game leading all the way through to a 82-67 victory. That win moves them to 14-6 (6-6 GLVC) on the season.

"It was nice to have a normal week, where we could have some preparation and practices and get some things ironed out from that stretch and getting ready for the stretch run down in February." Head Coach Clark Sheehy said.

Graduate student Quinn Nelson led the Bearcats with 15 points off 5-7 shooting and 3-4 from beyond the arc, while also pulling down 7 rebounds. Three of the young players had great performances with Drew McMillin scoring 14 points off 5 field goals, Noah Franklin scoring 12 with some big-time dunks, and Drenin Dinkins had 13 points. Dinkins was a perfect 8-8 from the free throw line to move to 72-76 on the season for 94.7%. Senior Mitch Ganote eclipsed the 500 rebound mark tonight with 10 rebounds and a near double-double with nine points.

The Bearcats will return to action next Thursday as they travel to Missouri St. Louis for a rematch against the Tritons. The Tritons handed the Bearcats their first loss of the season in early December with a 65-70 victory. UMSL is currently ranked 19th in the nation. Tipoff for this game is scheduled for 7:30 PM.
