Bolivar, Mo. – The SBU men's track and field team kicked off the new year in a rust buster meet at University of Central Missouri. Around 15 bearcat men competed in the UCM invitational.
"Today was a good start to the year." Head Coach
Corey McElhaney said, "It was great to see the team compete again and a good motivator going into the next stretch of our indoor season. We have some work to do and the team is ready to work towards that."
Freshman Devon McMillin kicked off his new year with a 1
st place in the 800-meter run, finishing with a time of 2:01.40. Junior
Parker Love had a big day finishing 2
nd in the long jump with a mark of 6.82 meters and making it to the finals of the 60-meter dash. Sophomore
Troy Davidson cracked the top three in the mile with a time of 4:25.78, just two seconds behind 1
st place. Damian Williams and
Colby Sanders ran together in the 3,000-meter finishing just a second a part in 3
rd and 4
th place respectively.
The team will compete again next weekend as they travel to Pitt State University for the second time this season. The PSU Wendy's invite will take place on Saturday January 28
th.
