Nelson Hits 7 Three's in Victory over Quincy

Quincy, Ill. – The SBU men's basketball team looked for a bounce back win this afternoon as they took on Quincy University. There were 7 lead changes throughout the game but the Bearcats held on to an 81-79 victory. That win moves them to 12-4 (4-4 GLVC) on the season.

"Thought our guys competed for 40 minutes and thought we defended well." Head Coach Clark Sheehy said. "Hopefully this will give our guys confidence for the upcoming games in league."

Quinn Nelson showed why he is the reigning GLVC player of the year scoring a game high 26 points off seven three-pointers. He now has 1,635 career points putting him in fourth place all-time scoring at SBU. Nelson shot 60% from the field and 78% from beyond the arc to go along with three rebounds, two assists, and a steal. Mitch Ganote added on 14 points with seven boards and Noah Franklin had 12 points with six boards.

The Bearcats will return to action on Monday as they look for revenge against the Truman State Bulldogs. Southwest Baptist fell to the Bulldogs at home earlier in the season 63-73. Tipoff for the game is scheduled for 3:00 PM.
