Bolivar, Mo. – The SBU football team (1-0) is set to kick off their first game on new turf this Saturday, September 10th at 6:00 PM. They will play against the #6 team in the Nation, University of West Florida (1-0). It will be a black out game as the Bearcats look to use a strong home crowd behind them to upset the 2019 National Champions.
The Bearcats are coming off a big road win against University of Texas Permian Basin, 41-17. They excelled on both sides of the ball with offense scoring 24 points in the first half and defense only allowing three points in the first three quarters. Running back
Abel Carter (#30), ran for 173 total yards and had three rushing touchdowns earning him the first GLVC Offensive Player of the Week award. The first Special Teams GLVC Player of the Week also went to the Bearcats, with Sophomore
Logan Turner earning the Award. He was a perfect 5-5 from extra point and perfect 2-2 in field goals, kicking a 42 and 51 yarder.
Both the Bearcats and Argonauts come into this game with similar stats from week 1. Each team recorded over 400 yards of total offense, even though the Bearcats lead that category with 462 total yards. SBU also has more than double the Argonauts rush yards, where they had 249 to 113.
