Bolivar, Mo.- Southwest Baptist University Athletic Director,
Clark Sheehy, has announced
Robbie Shay as the Assistant AD for Operations and Facilities.
"We are excited to add Robbie to our staff at SBU! He brings a lot of great experience and background to his position and our department. He loves athletics and will be a great addition to our university!" – Sheehy said.

Shay was born in Bolivar and grew up here until his freshman year of High School. He comes back to town with numerous family members in the area.
"I am excited to be returning home to the University in my hometown. I have many ties to the University through family members. This is a great opportunity for me to be able to do what I love in my hometown. I look forward to being a part of the Bearcat family. Excited to be back." – Shay said.

Shay comes to SBU after four years at Midway University as the Assistant Athletic Director for Operations and Compliance.
Previous to Midway, Shay was at Bacone College where he was the Associate Athletic Director from September 2007 to January 2013 where he managed the athletic budget for the school's 13 different sports and was the women's basketball coach for 12 seasons.
Shay also served as the Eligibility Compliance Chair from September 2004 to September 2013. In this role, he assisted student-athletes with their eligibility, while also communicating with the NAIA in eligibility cases. He was instrumental in coordinating game day administration for all sporting events at Bacone.
In 2012, Shay received the Dr. LeRoy Walker Champion of Character Coach of the Year award in the Red River Athletic Conference.
Shay got his start in athletics at Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) in Waxahachie, Texas, where he assisted in starting the women's basketball program and then served as the head women's basketball coach from April 1998 until July 2003.
Shay earned his Bachelor of Arts in Secondary Education in Business and History from Southwestern Assemblies of God University. He later obtained his master's degree in Education with a Specialization in Sports Administration from East Central University in 2007.
