Indianapolis, In. –  The Great Lakes Valley Conference has identified a league-record 545 student-athletes across their 15 member institutions who have earned the GLVC Council of Presidents' Academic Excellence Award, announced on Thursday. Each honoree is awarded this after exhausting his or her eligibility in their intercollegiate sport and maintained a 3.5 grade point average throughout their academic career. 17 Bearcats are represented from SBU for this prestigious award.
 
Mary Rose Foster, women's basketball, met the highest standard of academic excellence by achieving a 4.0 all throughout her collegiate career. She was one of 25 from the GLVC to achieve this accomplishment. She graduated from SBU this last May with her degree in Biology and Pre-med.
