Box Score 2 After losing the doubles point, the SBU men's tennis team bounced back in dominating fashion. They quickly won four straight singles match to clinch the team victory in the first round of the GLVC tournament. The first four to win were (3)
Youssef Nabil, (4)
Alvaro Nunez, (5)
Carlos Corser, and (6)
Max Sanoja.
Makary Adamek and
David Szeri were both up in the 3
rd set when the Bearcats clinched the victory.
Pending no weather delays, the men are set to face UIndy at 9:00 am at the Dwight Davis Tennis Center. Indianapolis won the GLVC East division with a conference record of 6-0 and has an overall record of 17-3.
After a long rain delay, the women's team came out strong at doubles and followed with tough singles matches to win 4-0 against Maryville.
Paula Ballesteros and
Diana Cabrera continued their doubles dominance winning 6-0.
Ghada Dirninger and
Elsa Pascual followed with a 6-4 to go up 1-0. In singles, (1)
Diana Cabrera clinched the first victory followed by (4)
Ghada Dirninger. After losing the first set, (2)
Paula Ballesteros bounced back to win sets two and three and clinch the victory for the Bearcats.
The women are set to face the winner of the Lewis vs UMSL matchup at noon on Saturday.
