The Bearcat bats broke through the Tritons pitching during game one of a doubleheader Saturday afternoon. Strong hitting and pitching led the Bearcats to their first conference win, 13-5.
Joe Wade led the Bearcats with three hits while
Rhys Cratty and
Eli Smock recorded two hits apiece.
Colby Sneed, Cratty, Wade, and Smock each logged two RBIs while
Ayden Fetters,
Brock Wilken, and
Jake Whittle had one RBI apiece. Cratty recorded his two RBIs on his 4
th homerun of the season in the 3
rd. Along with a strong offensive game, Bearcat pitching also saw strong performances.
Chase Wilson got his first win as a starter as he went four innings giving up two earned runs.
Timothy Glenn relieved Wilson and pitched three innings giving up zero earned runs.
The Bearcats battled hard in game two of the doubleheader, but fell 4-3.
Cole Van Every started his first game of the season giving up one earned run over four innings.
Matt Eleiott pitched two strong innings in relief, but the Tritons were able to score the winning run in the top of the 7
th against
Matt Scott. On the offensive side,
Rhys Cratty and
Brennan Espy had two hits while
Blake Ford,
Eli Smock,
Dean Hagenhoff, and
Brooks Espy had one hit.
Colby Sneed,
Rhys Cratty, and
Blake Ford each had one RBI.
The Bearcats and Tritons conclude the series on Sunday at 1:00 pm at Dodson Field.
