Bearcats Fall on the Road to Midwestern State

The Bearcats traveled to Wichita Falls, TX on Friday to take on Midwestern State University Texas. On the women's side, the Bearcats were overtaken by the #22 Mustangs and fell 2-5. They were unable to win the doubles points, losing each of the three matches. On the singles side, Ghada Dirninger was able to get a win at the 4 spot against Cassie Curry, 6-3, 6-2. Paula Ballesteros finished right after Dirninger at the 3 spot and clinched the match after losing the first set (3-6, 7-5, 6-2).

The men secured the doubles point early, but eventually fell to the Mustangs in a tight match 4-3. On the doubles side, the Bearcats received wins at the 1 and 3 lines. Alvaro Nunez and Youssef Nabil won 7-6 at the one spot and Carlos Corser and Max Sanoja quickly beat Brice Bradshaw and Corbin Ford at the 2 spot 6-1. The Bearcats fought hard in singles and pulled out wins at the 4 and 6 spots. After losing the first set 5-7, Nabil rebounded and won 6-2, 6-2 at the 4 spot. Corser cruised through Muniz at the 6 spot 6-4, 6-4. Unfortunately it was not enough as the Bearcats fell at the 1, 2, 3, and 5 spots.

The Bearcats return to action Saturday against the University of Texas at Tyler.
