SBU Bounces Back with Big Win Against McKendree

Lebanon, Ill- The SBU Women's Basketball team finished up their road trip on a Monday afternoon game against the McKendree Bearcats this afternoon. SBU led throughout the entire game beginning with a 21-8 first quarter and finished the game winning 76-46. That win moves the Bearcats to 12-10 (7-7 GLVC) on the season.

"We've always stressed the importance of next play mentality rather that's a missed shot, defensive breakdown, turnover, or a loss" said Assistant coach Brittney Dukes. "Today we had just that – a great next play mentality. We are extremely proud of our full team effort to grab this one on the road."

As a team the Bearcats shot 44.9% from the field, with hitting 10 threes for 38.5% from beyond the arc. SBU had 17 assists to go along with their 31 field goals made and only 9 total turnovers on the game. Kyleigh Vaught led the team in points with 14 and in assists with 5. Mary Rose Foster was behind her in points with 12, the only other Bearcat to score double digits. Nine separate Bearcats also made it into the scoring category in this afternoon's game.

"I'm proud of the way our team trusted each other on the offensive end" said Head Coach Kelsey Keizer. "But I credit a lot of our offensive success to great stops and rebounds on the defensive end."

The Bearcats return home this Thursday, February 10th, to take on the Greyhounds of University of Indianapolis. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30.
