Men's Basketball Bounces Back With Road Win Over McKendree

Lebanon, Ill. – The SBU men's basketball team took on McKendree University in the battle of the Bearcats this afternoon. An impressive second half shooting over 55% from the field led SBU to a 79-66 win. That win moves them to 6-2 (2-2 GLVC) on the season.

"I thought our guys did a good job of putting 40 minutes together on ends." Head Coach Clark Sheehy said, "we have to continue to get better and progress!"

Junior RJ Crawford led the team in scoring with 19 points going 8 of 12 from the field and knocking down three 3-pointers. He tagged along five rebounds, two assists, and two steals. Freshman Drenin Dinkins had the second highest scoring game of his career with 15 points going 4 of 9 from the field, while having a game high three steals. Senior Mitch Ganote was everywhere with a double-double and a near triple-double. He had 10 points, 11 rebounds, 8 assists, and 2 steals.

"It was a great team win." Ganote said, "McKendree is a very good team, and they are talented. I'm proud of how our guys stayed positive after 2 hard fought losses. Now we have to get back to work and get better."

Southwest Baptist will return to action a week from today as they play host to the Truman State Bulldogs. Tipoff is scheduled for 3:00 PM.
