Elsah, Ill. - The SBU Women's cross-country traveled to Principia University earlier today and raced in the Great Lakes Valley Conference Championship. The Bearcats fell just shy of a Championship finishing in 2
nd place.
"We fought hard today and maybe didn't hit our top goals but worked together and raced well on both sides." Head Coach
Corey McElhaney said, "The best race of the year for both groups. I am proud of both teams' efforts today. Now we go back to the drawing boards and work towards regionals."
The Bearcat ladies had three finishers in the top-10 with senior
Tessa Valdivia finishing in 3
rd. The twins Alexis and
Brocklyn Barber finished shortly behind her in 6
th and 7
th place respectively. Senior
Anna Bandy came in 21
st place as the 4
th finisher for the Bearcats. Freshman Riley Arnold earned the final points for the Bearcats finishing in 24
th place. SBU earned a total of 62 points to finish in 2
nd only behind the 19
th ranked Lewis Flyers.
The women's cross-country team now heads to the regional race two weeks from today on November 19
th. The regional race will take place at University of Wisconsin-Parkside in Kenosha, Wisconsin.
