SBU Cross Country Heads to NCAA Regionals

11/18/2022 11:57:00 AM

Bolivar, Mo. – The SBU men's and women's cross country team head to Kenosha, Wisconsin for the NCAA Regionals. They will compete in the regional race tomorrow Saturday, November 19th with the men racing first at 10:30am and the women at 11:30am.

"We are excited for our regional race this weekend. We have been putting in the work and aiming at this race since the beginning of summer." Head Coach Corey McElhaney said, "It will be the toughest race of the year but I believe our team is up for the challenge!"

The bearcat men prepare for this race after achieving their best GLVC Championship finish of 4th place, since joining the conference. In that race they were led by sophomore Brady Bauder who finished in 21st place. The Bearcats also had Colby Sanders, Joe Kremp, Evan Smith, Damien Williams, Trevor Maxville, and Carter Adams finish in the top of the pack.

"I'm definitely excited for the race this weekend." Senior Carter Adams said, "This is our second time this season getting to race at Kenosha so the team is pretty familiar with the course. I think the boys are still fueled and fired up from our race at conference, so the morale is high…Overall I think this is going to be our best performance yet. We have 7 healthy guys that ready to go to war together for all 6 miles!"

The Bearcat women head to regionals after narrowly missing out on their second GLVC Championship taking 2nd place. The Bearcats had three girls finish in the top 10, with all 5-point scorers finishing in the top 25. The ladies return the same tenacious lineup as they hope to advance to Nationals for the first time since 2019.
