Bearcats and Wildcats Compete in Cats vs Cancer Night / Coach Hanger Gets 25th Career Win

Bolivar, Mo. – The SBU volleyball team took on the Baker University Wildcats in a Cats vs Cancer matchup this evening. Both teams and fans joined together before the match to take a picture signifying their stand against cancer. Shortly following, the teams stepped on the court to compete where SBU won the match in 3 sets, giving Head Coach James Hanger his 25th SBU career win. That moves the Bearcats to 11-7 on the season.

"Tonight's game was more than just a win in the win column. It was an opportunity for us to give back to our community and support others around us." Said Assistant Coach Morgan Goodman, "Having a platform to raise awareness for breast cancer and childhood brain cancer is so special and holds a special place in my heart as well as our players."

Every Bearcat that was able to play made it onto the stat sheet for tonight. Senior Sydney Ernsbarger had a big game with 4 kills at a .300 hitting percentage, to go along with 4 solo blocks and 4 blocking assists. Another Senior Lauren Compton had 5 kills, 7 digs, and 3 serving aces.

The Bearcats will return to conference play tomorrow night as they travel to Maryville University to take on the Saints. The Bearcats head into this match with a 3-2 conference record and the Saints have a 1-5 conference record. The match is scheduled to begin at 6:00 PM.
