New Orleans, La. - The United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association released the first National Athlete of the Week honors for the 2021 season. Performances from the past few weeks were considered for these honors. Winning the NCAA DII Women's Cross Country National Athlete of the Week award was
Elysia Burgos. On September 4, Burgos took first place at the Bearcat Invitational, finishing the 5K race in 18:13.24. This award is the second of her career, winning the same honor on September 23, 2019. Burgos and the Bearcats will compete again this Saturday at the MSSU Stampede in Joplin, MO.
