Midland, Mich. - The SBU women's tennis team advanced to the Midwest Regional Championship, facing the #1 nationally ranked Indianapolis Greyhounds. UINDY went on to win the match 4-0, ending SBU's season.
The Greyhounds won court 1 of doubles play, 6-2 to open the match. Catarina Zheng and Elsa Pascual battled hard on court 2, but fell 6-4 which gave UINDY the doubles point.
Singles play opened with court 3 going to the Greyhounds 6-2, 6-4. They went on to win courts 4 and 2 as well, taking the match 4-0. Elsa Pascual won her first set 6-4 and Lola Cincunegui was up 5-4 in set two when the match was called.
The 2021 season was historic for the team, receiving their highest ranking in program history at #7 and advancing to the ITA Indoor National Championship.
