Bolivar, Mo. – The Bearcats had a big senior day, pulling off a doubleheader sweep of Highway 13 rival, Drury. Game one had an exciting finish, SBU winning 10-9 in walk-off fashion. A 5-0 shutout was the result of game two, putting the Bearcats at 18-21 (14-20 GLVC) for the year.
Game One
The visitors had a big first inning, scoring 4 runs to take an early lead.
Zack Ehlen led off SBU's offense with a double, stole third, and came around to score on a
Rhys Cratty double to get on the board.
Hayden Crabtree doubled with one out in the 2
nd and came around to score on a wild pitch and error by the catcher.
SBU had a big third inning to take a 5-4 lead.
Sam Avila drew a bases loaded walk to earn an RBI,
Colby Sneed drove a run in on an infield single, and
Blake Lutgen hit a sacrifice fly to left. Drury evened things up in the 5
th, but the Bearcats quickly responded.

Rhys Cratty and
Blake Lutgen launched a three-run shot over the right field wall, expanding the lead to 9-5. A big 7
th inning from the Panthers had the score at 9-9 heading into the final frame of regulation.

Hayden Crabtree, and
Brooks Espy were both hit by pitches to load the bases. Senior
Zack Ehlen stayed very disciplined at the plate, drawing the walk to win the game 10-9.
Dalton Morrow pitched 6.2 innings, threw 147 pitches, and struck out 10 batters.
Drew Wagner entered the game and threw one pitch, getting one out, and was named the winning pitcher.
Rhys Cratty went 4-4 at the plate, driving in a run and scoring a run himself.
Game Two
SBU wasted no time getting on the board, scoring a run in the first on a Drury error. After a scoreless second,
Zack Ehlen led off the third with a single, helping SBU to a 3-0 lead following a
Josh Scott blast over the left field fence. Another two runs were scored in the 4
th thanks to a
Zack Ehlen double and a throwing error by the Drury shortstop. Solid pitching and defense held the score at 5-0 for the remainder of the game, putting SBU ahead 2-1 in the series.
Ryan Carmack earned his 6
th win of the year, surrendering just 2 hits in 6.0 innings pitched.
Drew Wagner sealed the game, getting all three 7
th inning outs via the strikeout.
The series comes to a close on Saturday, May 8 with the first pitch scheduled for 2:00 PM.
