Rolla, Mo. – Southwest Baptist took the first game of the day with a score of 5-3 followed up by a 5-4 loss in the second game. This makes the Bearcats record 16-19 (12-18 GLVC) on the season.
Game One
Missouri S&T struck first with a run in the 2
nd inning, but the Bearcats responded with 3 in the 3
rd inning.
Colby Sneed drove in the first run and
Jackson Soule drove in the next two with a bases loaded single through the left side to score
Joe Wade and
Colby Sneed.
Josh Scott homered in the 6
th inning and
Eli Smock doubled home
Blake Lutgen to get the Bearcats the two runs that would decide the game.
Josh Scott and
Eli Smock each had two hits with Scott leading the team with 3 RBIs as well.
Ryan Carmack had the start with a solid 6 innings pitched and striking out 4 batters.
Game Two
S&T struck early with 2 runs in the second and
Rhys Cratty responded with a double down the line to score
Zack Ehlen and cut the deficit to 1. SBU tied it back up at 4 off of hits from
Sam Avila,
Blake Lutgen, and
Eli Smock.
Drew Wagner came on in relief for
Logan Sorrell in the 3
rd inning and allowed just 3 hits in 3 and two thirds' innings while striking out 4.
Zack Ehlen,
Rhys Cratty, and
Blake Lutgen each had two hits in the game. All but one of the Bearcats batters had at least one hit to lead the comeback attempt.
The Bearcats will wrap up the away series with Missouri S&T tomorrow at noon and attempt to win the series.
