Bolivar, Mo. – The Bearcat volleyball team wrapped up their season Friday evening, playing host to the Drury Panthers. The Highway 13 rivalry ended in a 3-0 Drury win, ending SBU's season with a 3-13 record. The top 8 teams in the point rating system make the post season tournament, SBU came in at 13
th with a rating of 2.03. Despite playing in the spring due to COVID, the team had the program's best conference record since 2014.
The Bearcats got off to a hot start in set one, taking a 7-3 lead. They maintained the lead until the 14
th point when Drury went on a run to take over 16-14. They went on another run late in the match, winning 25-19. Continuing that momentum, the Panthers went on to win the second set 25-15. SBU made a late push in the third set, but fell 25-20 to give Drury the 3-0 win.
Lindsey Barton (10 digs) and
Loran Pritchett (13 assists) were the only Bearcats in double digits.
Ashley Lasher led the team with 8 kills, and
Rachel Francis had a match-leading 4 blocks on the night.
