Box Score Kansas City, Mo. – The SBU tennis teams visited Rockhurst Friday afternoon, continuing conference play. With a 7-0 victory over the Hawks, the men's team improves to 11-8 (2-0 GLVC West) and extends their winning streak to 4 straight matches.
Adham Gaber and
Youssef Nabil won a tight 7-5 battle on court 2 of doubles play.
Alvaro Nunez and
David Szeri had an even closer battle, winning 7-6 (9-7 tiebreak) on court 3 to take the doubles point. Rockhurst won court 1 on a narrow 7-6 (7-3 tiebreak), but SBU had already won the doubles point.
Alvaro Nunez, the #50 singles player in Division II, got things going with a 6-0, 6-3 win on court 3.
David Szeri followed with a 6-2, 6-1 dominating performance on court 4. The match point was won by senior
Max Sanoja, downing his opponent 6-2, 6-1 on court 6.
Youssef Nabil surrendered just 2 games in his 6-2, 6-0 victory on court 5, and
Carlos Corser helped continue momentum with his 6-1, 6-4 win on court 2. Completing the 7-0 sweep was the #7 singles player in the nation,
Adham Gaber. On court 1, Gaber defeated his opponent 6-4, 7-5.
The team continues play in the Kansas City area, taking on William Jewell tomorrow, Saturday, April 10 starting at 11:00 AM.
