Bolivar, Mo. – The Lewis Flyers visited Bolivar Saturday afternoon, taking on the Bearcats in a doubleheader. SBU fell 3-2 in the first contest and 8-4 in the second, dropping to 2-34 (1-21 GLVC) on the season.
Game One
Lewis got runners on second and third in the 2
nd inning, but SBU got out of the jam unharmed. In the 3
rd,
Katlynn McConville came up clutch with a bases juiced single to left field, breaking the 0-0 score.
Abby Henson followed with a disciplined at-bat, drawing a walk to bring home another run, 2-0. The Flyers scored one in the 5
th and had the bases loaded, but the score remained 2-1 SBU. The visitors took the lead for good in the 6
th on two solo home runs, ending the game 3-2.
Game Two
The first run of the game was scored by senior outfielder,
Morgan McMullin, driving the ball over the left field fence. Lewis had big 4
th and 5
th innings, taking a 6-1 lead late in the game. SBU responded with a big 6
th inning, putting up three runs.
Kaitlyn Bagby led the inning off with a home run to center. After an out, seniors
Emma Ezzell and
Morgan McMullin went back-to-back with solo shots to cut the deficit to 6-4. Two more runs were scored by the Flyers, creating an 8-4 score.
SBU's home schedule concludes on Sunday, April 25 as the Bearcats host Illinois Springfield in a doubleheader starting at 12:00 PM.
