Liberty, Mo. – The Bearcats faced off against in-state foe William Jewell in the second and third game of a four-game series that ended in a 7-6 score in favor of William Jewell in the first game followed up by a 3-2 victory in the second game of the doubleheader. This makes the record for the Bearcats 10-7 (7-6 GLVC) for the season.
Game One
The Bearcats got on the board to tie it back up in the second inning when
Jackson Soule drove in
Josh Scott. SBU tied it back up again in the third inning when
Zack Ehlen tripled down the line in right and then got driven in by
Colby Sneed on the next at bat.
Colby Sneed drove in Ehlen again in the 5
th and later scored on a
Sam Avila triple to center to give the Bearcats the lead. William Jewell would score two in the 6
th inning to take the final lead.
Josh Scott,
Sam Avila, and
Blake Ford each had two hits for the Bearcats.
Zack Ehlen crossed the plate twice in the game to lead the Bearcats.
Game Two
Dalton Morrow got the win that punched his ticket as the winningest pitcher in Bearcats' history with 18 wins and extended his lead as the strikeout leader for the Bearcats with 243 in his career now. The Bearcats got out to an early lead in the second with a sac fly from
Blake Ford. William Jewell tied it up, but the Bearcats responded with one in the third and a solo shot to right center from
Hayden Crabtree to build a 3-1 lead that would hold for a 3-2 victory.
Colby Sneed had another two-hit ball game to make it his 3
rd of the year. Crabtree had the other extra base hit in the game with his home run in the 4
th inning. Morrow went all 7 innings and struck out 5 and walked just 3.
The Bearcats will finish up the series tomorrow at 12:00 when they look to win the series 3 games to 1.
