Bolivar, Mo. – For the second time in three games, the Bearcats met up with the Rockhurst Hawks. Tuesday's game was played in Bolivar, with very similar scores to Friday's matchup in Kansas City. Southwest Baptist fell to Rockhurst Tuesday evening by a score of 3-0, dropping to 2-12 on the season.
After scoring the first two points of the first set, SBU quickly found themselves down 7-2. They were able to rally later on, tying things up at 14-14. For the remainder of the set, the teams were back and forth, trading points. The score was tied 23-23 when Rockhurst was able to snag the final two points of the set, 25-23. The second set was another neck and neck battle. After trading leads for a while, Rockhurst jumped out to a 19-15 lead. However, SBU rallied back and went back and forth with the Hawks, forcing extra points. The score was locked at 25 when the visitors scored the last two for a 27-25 final. That momentum carried over into the third set, as the Hawks won 25-14.
Last Friday's final scores were 25-20, 25-22, and 25-14, just a few points off of Tuesday's rematch.
Loran Pritchett finished with a double-double Tuesday evening, collecting 17 assists to go along with 10 kills. She also had 2 blocks and 2 digs.
Ashleigh DeWees also had a double-double, finishing with 14 assists and 12 digs.
Lindsey Barton had the team high 14 digs in the loss.
Two regular season games remain for Southwest Baptist. The next will be a road game against William Jewell on Friday, April 2 at 7:00 PM, and the last a home game versus the Drury Panthers on Friday, April 9 at 6:00 PM. Earlier this year, the Bearcats defeated the William Jewell Cardinals 3-1.
