Lebanon, Ill. – Southwest Baptist ended the four-game series with McKendree on a high note, defeating their opponents 10-6 Sunday afternoon. That win helped SBU split the series 2-2 and improve to 7-3 (4-2 GLVC) on the season.
Blake Lutgen got things going with a leadoff single, later being replaced by
Zack Ehlen on a fielder's choice. He eventually came around to score on an error by McKendree's third baseman, taking a 1-0 lead. McKendree plated a couple in the bottom of the third to take a 2-1 lead, but that didn't last long. With the bases loaded in the 4
th,
Zack Ehlen singled home a run to even the score once again.
Colby Sneed and
Sam Avila kept the hot bats going with back-to-back doubles, scoring 4 total runs. A fifth run was then scored in the inning on a
Rhys Cratty single to put SBU ahead 7-2.
McKendree scored another in the 4
th, but SBU got that run back on a
Colby Sneed single in the 6
th, scoring
Blake Lutgen to make the score 8-3. Another couple of runs were scored in the 7
th, the first on a wild pitch, and the second on a
Blake Lutgen drive to right field. The hosts scored a few more late, but SBU held on for a 10-6 victory.
Dalton Morrow picked up his 17
th win as a Bearcat, tying the school's all-time record for most career wins. He pitched 8.0 innings, striking out 11 in the performance.

Jackson Soule each went 3-5 at the plate.
Colby Sneed was 2-5 at the plate with 4 RBI.
SBU returns home for their next series, hosting Rockhurst for a Friday-Sunday four-game series beginning at 6:30 PM on Friday, March 26.
