Columbus, Ga. – Continuing their trip out east, the Bearcats took on Montevallo University Friday afternoon. The women's team won a close contest with a 4-3 final. They improve to 9-6 on the season.
Montevallo won the doubles point rather quickly, winning on courts 1 and 2.
Emma Davis and
Lola Cincunegui finished on court 3 with a 7-6 victory, but the opponents had already won the doubles point.
The Falcons jumped out to a 2-0 lead after winning on court 6, but it was
Catarina Zheng putting SBU on the board with a 6-1 6-3 two-set sweep on court 3. Montevallo took court 5 as well, just one point away from clinching the match. The Bearcats responded loudly, winning 3 straight to go on and win the match.
Elsa Pascual won 1-6, 6-1, 6-0 on court 4,
Constanca Crespo followed with a 3-6, 6-3, 6-2 victory on court 2, and
Diana Cabrera capped off the comeback with a 4-6, 6-3, 7-6 huge win.
The team will compete against Missouri State on Saturday, March 27 in Springfield for their next matchup.
