Bearcats Spoil Quincy's Senior Day with 81-69 victory

Quincy, Ill. – The Bearcats picked up their 15th win of the season, tying the second most conference wins in a season in program history. SBU's 81-69 final rained on Quincy's senior day parade, handing the Hawks a loss in their final game of the season.

Both teams were hot starting out, even at 25 with 11:13 left in the first. SBU then locked in on defense and turned the throttle up on offense, going on a 20-9 run heading into the break. The run featured scoring from six different Bearcats, including a couple of three's from Ricky Crawford Jr. and Brady Smith.

After Mitch Ganote made a jumper for the first points of the second half, Quinn Nelson drained back-to-back three pointers. However, Quincy's senior responded with a couple of three's to keep the SBU lead at 11 in the first few minutes. Brady Smith and Mitch Ganote combined for 9 straight to give the Bearcats a 62-42 lead with 14:47 on the clock. The biggest lead of the game came at the 7:30 mark, following a Quinn Nelson three and a Ricky Crawford Jr. layup to make the lead 26 points. The Hawks attempted a comeback, but the Bearcats held on for the 81-69 victory.

Four Bearcats scored double digits, led by Mitch Ganote with 17 on 7-9 shooting from the field. He also led all players with 7 rebounds. Brady Smith had the game-high in assists, dishing 7 in the win. As a team, SBU shot nearly 60% from the field and held Quincy to 43.9%. SBU's bench outscored QU's bench 22-0, and the Bearcats had 20 fast break points compared to Quincy's 3.

Saturday marks the end of the regular season for the Bearcats, taking on the nationally ranked Truman State Bulldogs in Kirksville, MO at 3 PM.
