SCOUTING THE BEARCATS
In their first year as full-time members of the Great Lakes Valley Conference, the SBU Women's Basketball team finished 15-13 (9-11 GLVC) on the year. The GLVC allows just 8 teams to make the conference tournament. Finishing 10th out of 16 teams in the GLVC, the Bearcats narrowly missed the conference tournament for the second straight year.
The Bearcats are led by experience with seniors Kyleigh Vaught, Sydney Bandy, and Regan Tibbits as the top three scorers with all three averaging in the double digits. Tibbits also leads the team in rebounding with 5.3 rebounds per game. Southwest Baptist is currently in second place in the conference in free throw percentage with a 76.5% mark.Â
Southwest Baptist is coming off a close loss to Illinois-Springfield 58-63. Kyleigh Vaught tallied 19 points on Senior Day along with 2 three-pointers from near halfcourt in the first half. Taliayah Wilson protected the paint with 3 blocks in the game. Sydney Bandy also grabbed 7 rebounds in the effort.

Freshman Jazzpher Evans has made an immediate impact with 10.9 points per game while only startng in 5 games and playing in 16. Quincy dropped a thriller back on February 6th to Illinois-Springfield where the game went to 3 overtimes and UIS defeated the Hawks 100-99. Quincy got their last win over once ranked Southern Indiana with a 69-61 upset victory.
THE COACHES
SBU head coachÂ
Kelsey Keizer begins her seventh season on the SBU bench after compiling a 81-90 (44-74 conf.) record while at SBU. Coach Keizer led two Bearcats to All-GLVC honors last season, and fell just short of the conference tournament as the GLVC takes only 8 teams to the postseason tournament.
Jeni Garber is in her 10th season as the Hawks head coach after previously serving as an assistant coach for Bradley University for 11 years. Garber came into Quincy and had immediate success with a 22-8 record and winning the GLVC West Division in her first year. Garber has also led the Hawks to 3 NCAA Tournament appearances and accumulated a 113-88 record over her 10 seasons.
ALL-TIME SERIES
Southwest Baptist leads the all-time series against Quincy 7-3 with the latest game being a 60-48 Bearcat victory in 2019-20.
