Game Notes

Date: February 13, 2021
Time: 1:00 PM
Location: Indianapolis, Ind.

Indianapolis, Ind. - Southwest Baptist will be taking the long trip to Indianapolis to face off against the Greyhounds. This will be the second matchup of the season between the two teams.

SCOUTING THE BEARCATS
In their first year as full-time members of the Great Lakes Valley Conference, the SBU Women's Basketball team finished 15-13 (9-11 GLVC) on the year. The GLVC allows just 8 teams to make the conference tournament. Finishing 10th out of 16 teams in the GLVC, the Bearcats narrowly missed the conference tournament for the second straight year.

The Bearcats are being led by the trio of senior's Kyleigh Vaught, Sydney Bandy, and Regan Tibbits with a combined 39.6 points per game between them. SBU as a team is averaging 14.4 made free throws per game on 77.3% shooting which is good enough for 2nd in the GLVC.

Southwest Baptist is coming off a close loss to McKendree where they outscored the Bearcats 16-7 in the second quarter. Kyleigh Vaught led the attack with 16 points as well as 3 different Bearcats finishing with 6 or more rebounds. Southwest Baptist also outshot McKendree 65 shots to 56.

SCOUTING THE INDIANAPOLIS GREYHOUNDS
The Indianapolis Greyhounds are led by a balanced attack from seniors Taylor Drury and Mickey Sasson as well as junior Sadie Hill. Drury is averaging 15.9 points per game along with a tick over 11 points per game from both Sasson and Hill. Mickey Sasson does it all for the Greyhounds with 6.6 rebounds per game and 5.1 assists per game. Indianapolis is allowing just 65.5 points per game which is good enough for 3rd in the GLVC along with a +6.5 rebounding margin that is 4th in the GLVC.

THE COACHES

SBU head coach Kelsey Keizer begins her seventh season on the SBU bench after compiling a 81-90 (44-74 conf.) record while at SBU. Coach Keizer led two Bearcats to All-GLVC honors last season, and fell just short of the conference tournament as the GLVC takes only 8 teams to the postseason tournament.

Kristin Wodrich enters her 5th year at the healm for the Greyhounds. Wodrich recorded a 17-14 mark in her first year which was a 7 win improvement from the previous year. She previously led IUPUI to a WNIT berth as an assistant coach. In Wodrich's tenure she has knocked off 2 nationally ranked opponents and snapped the Greyhounds 17 game losing streak in that category.

ALL-TIME SERIES
Southwest Baptist trails the all-time series against Indianapolis 0-3 with their latest loss coming earlier this year when they fell 61-72 at home.
