Bolivar, Mo. – The SBU Volleyball team wrapped up the 2021 regular season on a high note, downing William Jewell 3-1 to finish 11-18 (6-12 GLVC) on the year. Their 6 conference wins ties the most ever in a season in program history.
The teams really went back and forth at the beginning of the first set, but SBU settled in and took control, taking it 25-14. Trailing 3-2 in the second set, SBU scored 8 consecutive points to build a solid lead. Jewell later went on a run of their own, but SBU squeezed out the set 25-23. WJC used some of that momentum to take the third set 25-18, but SBU responded strong with a 25-13 closing set to take the match 3-1.
Three Bearcats had double digit kills on the afternoon, led by an incredible 18-kill performance by
Ashley Lasher.
Azalea Clendenning finished with 14 and
Rachel Francis had 13.
Loran Pritchett ended the season with another double-double, collecting 40 assists and 11 digs. Leading the digs category was
Janel Pido with 15.
