Bolivar, Mo. - The Bearcats will face off against the Greyhounds in Bolivar. The Greyhounds are coming off of 3 straight wins after starting the season 0-3
SCOUTING THE BEARCATS
In their first year as full-time members of the Great Lakes Valley Conference, the SBU Women's Basketball team finished 15-13 (9-11 GLVC) on the year. The GLVC allows just 8 teams to make the conference tournament. Finishing 10th out of 16 teams in the GLVC, the Bearcats narrowly missed the conference tournament for the second straight year.
The Bearcats are being led by senior Kyleigh Vaught who is averaging 12.8 points per game. Megan Worthington has stepped up to average 8.4 points per game after only averaging 4.7 minutes per game in the 2019-20 season. Senior Regan Tibbits is pulling down 5.4 rebounds per game to lead the Bearcats as well. SBU as a team is averaging 6.8 three pointers per game on an impressive 32.7% shooting.
SCOUTING THE INDIANAPOLIS GREYHOUNDS
Indianapolis is being led by senior Taylor Drury with 14.7 points per game and 5.2 rebounds per game. Drury is one of two seniors on Indianapolis with senior Mickey Sasson tallying up a total of 30 assists through the first 6 games. Indianapolis has relied on taking a lead early and holding the late runs off. As a team the Greyhounds are averaging 33.8 rebounds per game for a +3.5 margin over their opponents. After starting out cold and going 0-3 the Greyhounds have turned the season around with a respectable 3 game winning streak to get back to .500.
THE COACHES
SBU head coach Kelsey Keizer begins her seventh season on the SBU bench after compiling a 81-90 (44-74 conf.) record while at SBU. Coach Keizer led two Bearcats to All-GLVC honors last season, and fell just short of the conference tournament as the GLVC takes only 8 teams to the postseason tournament.
Kristin Wodrich enters her 5th year at the healm for the Greyhounds. Wodrich recorded a 17-14 mark in her first year which was a 7 win improvement from the previous year. She previously led IUPUI to a WNIT berth as an assistant coach. In Wodrich's tenure she has knocked off 2 nationally ranked opponents and snapped the Greyhounds 17 game losing streak in that category.
ALL-TIME SERIES
Indianapolis leads the all time series 2-0 with the first win in 2002-03 and last year winning 56-67.Â
