Springfield, Mo. – Southwest Baptist fell to Drury in three sets to start the COVID-19 plagued season. Drury is projected to be the second-best team in the GLVC West division.
Drury got out to a 6-2 lead in the first set but a kill by Loran Pitchett sparked a run to bring it back to 6-5 before the Bearcats would fall 13-25. The Bearcats would eventually fall 13-25 and 20-25 in the final two sets.
Delanie Tipton led the Bearcats with 5 kills followed by
Rachel Francis,
Ashley Lasher, and
Loran Pritchett all having 4 kills. Pritchett also had 8 assists for the Bearcats as well as
Lindsey Barton contributing 13 digs in the effort. Freshman
Rachel Francis led the Bearcats in points with 7.5 in the match.
Southwest Baptist will be back in action for their second match of the season against William Jewell in Bolivar on February 2.
