Game Notes

Date: January 30, 2021
Time: 1:00 PM
Location: St. Charles, Mo.

St. Charles, Mo. - Southwest Baptist will look to keep their three game winning streak alive on the road against Lindenwood. The Bearcats dropped the previous matchup this season against the Lions and will be attempting to split the season series.

SCOUTING THE BEARCATS
In their first year as full-time members of the Great Lakes Valley Conference, the SBU Women's Basketball team finished 15-13 (9-11 GLVC) on the year. The GLVC allows just 8 teams to make the conference tournament. Finishing 10th out of 16 teams in the GLVC, the Bearcats narrowly missed the conference tournament for the second straight year.

The Bearcats are being led by the trio of senior's Kyleigh Vaught, Sydney Bandy, and Regan Tibbits with a combined 39.3 points per game between them. SBU as a team is averaging 7.2 made three pointers per game on an impressive 34.3% shooting. The Bearcats are also leading the GLVC in free throw percentage with a 80.2% mark along with currently being 5th in the conference in 3-point field goals made per game.

Southwest Baptist is coming off back-to-back victories over Missouri S&T and Rockhurst. Kyleigh Vaught has combined for 41 points in those wins along with a combined 29 points from Regan Tibbits. The Bearcats also had a season high 32 made free throws in the victory at Rockhurst.

SCOUTING THE LINDENWOOD LIONS
The Lindenwood Lions are being led by senior Julia Ruzevich who is averaging 20.3 points per game along with 10.4 rebounds per game. Ruzevich has scored in double digits in each of the Lions 9 games this season. Devin Fuhring is also helping the Lions with 16.7 points per game. The Lions are averaging 41.3 rebounds per game for a +8.6 rebounding margin over their opponents. This is good enough for 1st in the conference in rebounds per game and 2nd in the conference in rebounding margin.

THE COACHES

SBU head coach Kelsey Keizer begins her seventh season on the SBU bench after compiling a 81-90 (44-74 conf.) record while at SBU. Coach Keizer led two Bearcats to All-GLVC honors last season, and fell just short of the conference tournament as the GLVC takes only 8 teams to the postseason tournament.

Katie Falco enters her third year as the head coach of the Lindenwood Lions. Falco came in and made an immediate impact with a 21-8 record for the most wins by Lindenwood in their NCAA era. Falco previously held assistant coaching positions at both South Dakota State and Montana State prior to taking over at Lindenwood.

ALL-TIME SERIES
Southwest Baptist leads the all-time series against the Lions 8-7 with their latest win coming in 2018-19 with a 87-73 victory. Lindenwood took the matchup earlier this season with a 73-79 victory.
