St. Charles, Mo. - The SBU Baseball team will travel to St. Charles to begin the GLVC conference season. Southwest Baptist will be looking to start conference play off start and cool down the streaking Lions. 

SCOUTING THE BEARCATS
The Southwest Baptist University Bearcats are coming off a 19-31 (10-23 MIAA) finish last season. The athletics program has made the move from the MIAA to the GLVC, going from 14 to 16 teams in the conference. A solid, veteran pitching staff returns for the Bearcats, Dalton Morrow, Drew Wagner, Kyle Smith, and Cole Van Every. Leading the Bearcats offensively will be Brett Mitchell, Sam Avila, Blake Hobbs, Jackson Soule, and Blake Lutgen. Last season the Bearcats played against a few GLVC teams, going 2-1 against Maryville who finished 2nd in the GLVC last year, beating Drury 9-2, and sweeping McKendree with scores of 15-1 and 5-3.

SCOUTING THE LIONS
Lindenwood University is entering their first season in the GLVC and looking to make a splash. Lindenwood was picked to finish 8th in the conference before the season started and are exceeding expectations. Lindenwood's last two seasons have ended just above the .500 mark and making the MIAA conference tournament in 2019. Lindenwood has started the season off hot and found themselves ranked 11th in the NCBWA polls. The Lions are returning seniors Bryce Beckmann and Mitchell Krebs who each hit over .300 in the previous season. Lindenwood also returns their best two starters Blake Beckmann and Kyle Hentis who had ERA's just over 3.00 in 2019.
