Edwardsville, Ill. - The Indianapolis Greyhounds put an end to SBU's historic season at the GLVC Tournament Thursday night. The #13 nationally ranked Greyhounds defeated the Bearcats 68-80 in a game much closer than the final score.
Quinn Nelson got things going for SBU, nailing a three for the game's first points.
Joe Miller then hit a three as well, giving SBU a 6-4 early lead. UIndy took a 9-8 lead with 15:07 on the clock and that score held for several minutes. The Greyhounds took a 17-11 lead, but
Quinn Nelson hit another three to bring the Bearcats to 14-17. With just over 6 minutes left in the half, Nelson and
Kent Thomas hit back-to-back three's to give SBU a 24-21 lead.
Godfrey Rolle scored the last 7 points for the Bearcats heading into halftime, giving SBU a 38-34 lead.
UIndy quickly erased the deficit coming out of the break, and the teams stayed neck and neck for the first five minutes. The Greyhounds jumped ahead of the Bearcats and SBU wasn't able to catch back up. Two
Godfrey Rolle free throws with 8:40 left brought SBU back within three, but timely shots by UIndy kept the Greyhounds ahead.
Kent Thomas scored a quick bucket with 4 minutes left to bring the deficit to three once again, but the Greyhounds would go on to close the game out from there, 80-68.
In his last game as a Bearcat,
Damian Prgomet had a double-double, scoring 17 points with 10 rebounds. He also had a block in the game.
Godfrey Rolle also had a solid final outing, scoring 15 points and grabbing 6 rebounds.
Brady Smith added 12 points, and
Quinn Nelson had 11.
