Bolivar, Mo. - The Bearcats will host William Jewell for the final home game of the season. SBU is currently half a game ahead of the Cardinals in the GLVC standings and need this win to better the resume for the conference tournament.
SCOUTING THE BEARCATS
The Bearcats return just 1 starter from the 2018-19 season inÂ
Bailey Rezabek. SBU also returns their forward transfer duo from last season,Â
Tyra Kidd andÂ
Zahria White. Returning for their junior seasons areÂ
Taliayah Wilson,Â
Regan Tibbits, andÂ
Sydney Bandy. SophomoresÂ
Brylee Graddy andÂ
Megan Worthington also return. The Bearcats also add quite a few new faces, including NCAA DI transferÂ
Alexus Johnson.
In their last competition, the Bearcats started slow but ended up beating Rockhurst 81-62. Kyleigh Vaught led all scorers with 22, followed by Alexus Johnson with 19 and then Bailey Rezabek with 15.
SCOUTING THE CARDINALS
William Jewell is a team that, in the past, has consistently finished in the top 8 of the GLVC and made the GLVC tournament. This year they sit in 9th place and are needing a good run late to clinch the GLVC tournament. The Cardinals are led by junior Reilly Olmstead who is averaging 15.1 points per game and 7.1 rebounds per game. As a team the Cardinals are averaging 64.1 points per game with a score differential of -3.5 points per game.
THE COACHES
SBU head coachÂ
Kelsey Keizer begins her sixth season on the SBU bench after compiling a 66-76 (35-63 MIAA) record while at SBU. Coach Keizer led two Bearcats to All-MIAA honors last season, and fell just short of the conference tournament as SBU lost the head-to-head against the #10 seeded MSSU earlier in the season.
Jill Slominski begins her 24th season as head coach of the Cardinals. In the past she led William Jewell to 4 straight NAIA tournament appearances before the school moved to Division II. Slominski has compiled a total of 431 wins through her 23 seasons.
ALL-TIME SERIES
The Bearcats lead the all time series 12-8 with the previous matchup this year going to the Cardinals.
