Game Notes

Date: December 3, 2020
Time: 6:05 PM
Location: Springfield, Mo.

Springfield, Mo. - After postponing their first weekend of games this season, the Bearcats will open their season just down the road against Highway 13 rivals, Drury. The Panthers finished 1st in the GLVC last season.

SCOUTING THE BEARCATS
In their first year as full-time members of the Great Lakes Valley Conference, the SBU Women's Basketball team finished 15-13 (9-11 GLVC) on the year. The GLVC allows just 8 teams to make the conference tournament. Finishing 10th out of 16 teams in the GLVC, the Bearcats narrowly missed the conference tournament for the second straight year.

Seven players return from last season, including three starters. Kyleigh Vaught returns for her second season with the Bearcats after receiving third team All-GLVC honors last year. Regan Tibbits and Sydney Bandy also return from last season's starting lineup. Some of the new faces will make an early impact on the team to help the Bearcats jump to a hot start in this conference only season.

SCOUTING THE PANTHERS
The Drury Panthers (Springfield, MO) have started the new season with two straight road wins. Those wins came against the University of Missouri-St. Louis and Lindenwood University. The first game was won by a deficit of 84-67, followed by a 41 point win over Lindenwood, 110-69. Junior Paige Robinson leads the team in scoring so far, dropping 18 points on UMSL and 37 against Lindenwood. She also hauled in 10 rebounds against the Tritons for her first double-double of the year. The GLVC recently awarded her with conference player of the week honors.

THE COACHES
SBU head coach Kelsey Keizer begins her seventh season on the SBU bench after compiling a 81-90 (44-74 conf.) record while at SBU. Coach Keizer led two Bearcats to All-GLVC honors last season, and fell just short of the conference tournament as the GLVC takes only 8 teams to the postseason tournament

Amy Eagan joins the Panthers for her first season in 2020-21. Although this is her first with Drury, Eagan is not new to the GLVC. She spent 6 seasons with Truman State, becoming the program's all-time leader in career coaching wins and posting a record of 111-62 with the Bulldogs. Last season, Eagan served as an assistant coach for Drury.

ALL-TIME SERIES
The Panthers lead the all time series 11-2 with the previous matchup going to the Panthers
