Liberty, Mo. – Southwest Baptist came up just shy in a 55-63 loss to William Jewell. This will make the Bearcats record 0-5 (0-5 GLVC) for the season.
William Jewell got the first point in the contest with a free throw, but
Regan Tibbits responded with a three. This three would spark a 10-2 run from the Bearcats to give them an early 7-point lead. William Jewell responded to cut it to four points with 4:33 remaining in the first quarter.
Brodi Byrd would take over the end of the first, going 3-3 for 9 points in the final 2 minutes and helping the Bearcats to a 12-point lead after the first. The Cardinals would get back into the game and take a 7-point lead in the third. SBU would regain a 2-point lead with 4:46 remaining in the fourth but would eventually fall 55-63 in the end.
Mary Rose Foster led the Bearcats with 14 points in 21 minutes of play and 6-8 shooting.
Brodi Byrd also came off the bench to contribute 12 points to the cause.
Regan Tibbits grabbed 6 rebounds and dished out 4 assists for SBU. Tibbits and
Kyleigh Vaught also shut the Cardinals down with 7 steals between the two of them. As a team the Bearcats finished with 9 threes made in the game.
The Bearcats will have a break and be back in action on January 2
nd at home against Lindenwood.
