Bolivar, Mo. -The Bearcats host Rockhurst for the first home game of the season. SBU is attempting to get that important first win of the season.

SCOUTING THE BEARCATS
In their first year as full-time members of the Great Lakes Valley Conference, the SBU Women's Basketball team finished 15-13 (9-11 GLVC) on the year. The GLVC allows just 8 teams to make the conference tournament. Finishing 10th out of 16 teams in the GLVC, the Bearcats narrowly missed the conference tournament for the second straight year.

The Bearcats are being led by senior Kyleigh Vaught who is averaging 15.0 points per game. Megan Worthington has stepped up to average 12.3 points per game after only averaging 4.7 minutes per game in the 2019-20 season. The Bearcats currently have both Regan Tibbits and Rachel Tippens averaging 5.0 rebounds per game. SBU as a team is averaging 7.3 three pointers per game on an impressive 39.3% shooting.

SCOUTING THE ROCKHURST HAWKS
The Rockhurst Hawks are averaging 63.4 points per game as a team while allowing 64.6 points per game. The Hawks use the block more than most teams with only 5.8 three pointers made per game. Rockhurst is led by senior Daly Sullivan in both points (14.0) and assists (2.2) per game. Keegan Sullivan, sister of Daly Sullivan, is making an immediate impact as a freshman with an immpressive 11.7 points per game off the bench. Junior Monika Faerber helps to crash the boards and bring in 9.4 rebounds per game.

THE COACHES

SBU head coach Kelsey Keizer begins her seventh season on the SBU bench after compiling a 81-90 (44-74 conf.) record while at SBU. Coach Keizer led two Bearcats to All-GLVC honors last season, and fell just short of the conference tournament as the GLVC takes only 8 teams to the postseason tournament.

Larry Park is in his 12th season of coaching the Hawks. In 2016-17 Park led the Hawks to their first back-to-back winning seasons for the first time since 1997-98. Park has received the Walt Tylicki Memorial Award from the Greater Kansas City Basketball Coaches Association for the many successful years he has coached in the area.

ALL-TIME SERIES
Southwest Baptist leads the series 13-7 tracing back to both school's NAIA days. The Bearcats split the season series in 2019-20 with a 54-98 loss and 81-62 win.
