Indianapolis, Ind. - The GLVC announced the recipients of the James R. Spalding Sportsmanship Team Award Tuesday afternoon. For the first time in program history, the SBU Women's Cross Country team claimed this award. The team received this award following a vote by the league's 15 coaches.
In addition to the two team awards, 15 male and 15 female student-athletes who have distinguished themselves through sportsmanship and ethical behavior were also recognized. These individuals must also be in good academic standing and have demonstrated good citizenship outside of the sports-competition setting. The honorees are now eligible to become one of their school's two Spalding Sportsmanship Award winners, which will be announced at the end of the academic year.
Representing the SBU Men's Cross Country team was
Jay Grainger. On the women's side,
Tabitha Weber was recognized for this accomplishment.
