Bearcats Start Road Trip Up Against The Miners

Rolla, Mo. - Southwest Baptist will travel to play against Missouri S&T for a conference showdown. The Bearcats are coming off of a win against Missouri-St. Louis and look to stay hot. 

SCOUTING THE BEARCATS
The Bearcats return just 1 starter from the 2018-19 season in Bailey Rezabek. SBU also returns their forward transfer duo from last season, Tyra Kidd and Zahria White. Returning for their junior seasons are Taliayah Wilson, Regan Tibbits, and Sydney Bandy. Sophomores Brylee Graddy and Megan Worthington also return. The Bearcats also add quite a few new faces, including NCAA DI transfer Alexus Johnson.

In their last competition, the Bearcats fell to Lindenwood 68-72 and was led by Bailey Rezabek with 17 points. Other key contributors were Kyleigh Vaught(16), Regan Tibbits(15), and Sydney Bandy(11). Rezabek also led the team in rebounds with 9 for the game. 

SCOUTING THE MINERS
Missouri S&T Miners are coming off of a win at Quincy and looking to have their first home game of the year when hosting SBU. The Miners are led by senior Mykala Baylor who is averaging 12.8 points per game and 11 rebounds per game. The Miners have 3 other players that are averaging 10 points or higher. The Miners look to use experience to their advantage with 9 of the 13 players on the team being upperclassman.

THE COACHES
SBU head coach Kelsey Keizer begins her sixth season on the SBU bench after compiling a 66-76 (35-63 MIAA) record while at SBU. Coach Keizer led two Bearcats to All-MIAA honors last season, and fell just short of the conference tournament as SBU lost the head-to-head against the #10 seeded MSSU earlier in the season.

Katie Vaughn is entering her 8th season as the Tritons coach. Vaughn is the current leader for most wins all time at UMSL. in her 7 seasons with UMSL she has compilled a 110-83 total record including 6 trips to the GLVC Tournament, with the Tritons making it to the semifinals in 2018.

ALL-TIME SERIES
Southwest Baptist leads the all-time series 31-25. The most recent meeting was in the 2015-16 season and the Bearcats came out on top 79-43. This will be the first time they meet up as conference opponents though.
