Pittsburg, Kan. – The Pitt State Tourney wrapped up Saturday, with the Bearcats taking on the Midwestern State Mustangs and the Pittsburg State Gorillas. Southwest Baptist fell to MSU 1-3 in the first match of the day, and fell 1-3 to PSU in their final match of the tournament.
Match 1 vs. Midwestern State
The Bearcats fell 25-22 in the first set, coming back from 20-24 to 22-24 before the Mustangs grabbed the set point. MSU continued their momentum, winning the second set 25-16. SBU battled back in the third set, winning 25-16 after scoring the last 6 straight points. The fourth set was taken by the Mustangs, 25-21, giving the Mustangs the win.
Greysen Roster led the team with 10 kills and 4 blocks.
Makenzie Bouse had another 28 assists on the afternoon, and
Rachel Pfeifer collected 9 digs.
Match 2 vs. Pittsburg State
The Gorillas took set 1 with a final score of 25-15, but the Bearcats snagged the second, 25-21. The third set went into extra points, but the Gorillas came out on top 26-24. The fourth set was also a close one, with PSU winning it 25-21. Three Bearcats had double digit kills,
Rebecca Rabius with 15,
Ana Hanes with 11, and
Greysen Roster with 10.
Makenzie Bouse had a match leading 43 assists, and
Kylie Talbott collected 20 digs.
The next competition for the Bearcats is the Tamuk Tourney taking place on September 13-14 in Kingsville, TX.
